Use of corticosteroids in atopic dermatitis: Review article

La dermatitis atópica (DA) es una enfermedad inflamatoria crónica de la piel que afecta principalmente a niños, caracterizada por picazón y enrojecimiento. Su tratamiento habitual son los corticoides tópicos, aunque su uso prolongado puede tener efectos secundarios. El objetivo principal es actualizar conocimientos sobre el uso de corticoides en dermatitis atópica. En septiembre del 2024 se realizó un artículo de revisión sobre manejo de DA en base a corticoesteroides, este está basado en estudios de los últimos 5 años encontrados en base de datos como PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE y Google Académico. Se identificaron 20 estudios que cumplen con los criterios de inclusión e incluyen definición, etiología, fisiopatología, manejo, tratamiento a base de corticoides, mecanismo de acción, eficiencia y efectos secundarios del tema descrito. La dermatitis atópica necesita un manejo multifacético, donde los corticoides tópicos son esenciales para aliviar síntomas y controlar brotes. La educación del paciente y la selección adecuada de tratamientos son cruciales para mejorar la calidad de vida. Integrar corticoides con otras terapias permite un enfoque personalizado y efectivo.
