Copper exports, economic diversification and economic growth: A review

Este artículo presenta una revisión sistemática de la literatura sobre el impacto de la exportación de cobre en el crecimiento económico, examinando estudios desde 2019 hasta la fecha. Se centra en la interacción entre las exportaciones de cobre y variables macroeconómicas clave, resaltando que, si bien el cobre es un impulsor significativo del crecimiento, su impacto sostenible es incierto debido a la volatilidad de los precios y las políticas económicas internas. Se enfatiza la necesidad de evaluaciones ambientales integradas para un desarrollo sostenible. Adicionalmente, se destaca la diversificación económica como estrategia crítica para países dependientes de recursos exclusivos, sugiriendo que diversificar hacia sectores no mineros puede proteger las economías contra fluctuaciones de precios y promover un crecimiento más equilibrado. La revisión subraya la importancia de políticas que concilien los beneficios económicos y la protección ambiental, proponiendo aspectos para futuras investigaciones que podrían fortalecer las estrategias de desarrollo económico sostenible.
