Abstract
Burnout syndrome is increasingly prevalent in healthcare personnel. The objective was to design a
burnout syndrome prevention program in the studied population. As a methodology, a non-
experimental, descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional research design was used. We worked with 100
professionals in the area of health and epidemiological surveillance; the Apgar scale of family
functioning and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire were used as instruments. For the
development of the intervention program, the validation process was carried out by specialists and
Cronbach's Alpha measurement was carried out. Among the main results: 55% were men and 45%
were between 31 and 40 years old. The majority of workers have between 1 and 3 years of service
(52%). 39% evidenced moderate family dysfunction. There was medium level emotional exhaustion
(39%), low depersonalization (38%) and low personal accomplishment (41%). There was no
association between the levels of Burnout syndrome with age and sex, but there was an association
with the job position and 1 to 3 years of service. The intervention program was created with a
Cronbach's alpha of .90. In conclusion, the approach to the workers allowed us to establish their
characteristics, the scores in each dimension of the questionnaire and their classification according
to the risk of developing Burnout. The proposal of a Burnout Syndrome Prevention Intervention
Program on an individual, family and social level was possible.
